As Refugee Week draws to a close, the NCCA shares a vision of new season of community support for refugees and asylum seekers. The NCCA's Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce had a delegation of church representatives in Canberra. Together, we talked about ways faith organisations can play a part in creating pathways for people seeking safety and protection.

We are in refugee week and the plight of the Murugappan family... has focused us in prayer and solidarity with all those experiencing Australia’s closed immigration detention and the thousands living in our community on temporary visas, their lives in limbo and in mental anguish, some for 8 years.

The 2021-2022 Statement can now be ordered from the The Australian Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Social Justice Office.
The Statement Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor, affirms that “we human beings need a change of heart, mind, and behaviour”. It will be available electronically, and print copies will only be available by pre-order via the ACBC online shop, by 8 July 2021.
